There are many clinical research opportunities in the Department of Anesthesiology. We currently have over 20 prospective clinical research projects enrolling subjects. There are also retrospective studies underway. Over 75% of our Attendings and virtually all of the Residents in the Anesthesiology program are currently participating in a project. Opportunity is also available for medical students to be part of a research team.
The Department of Anesthesiology also has active basic sciences research, specializing in neuroscience. The basic sciences lab employs research fellows and there are opportunities for residents to spend 1-6 months in the basic sciences lab. Many of our residents have currently submitted abstracts to scientific meetings, presented at conferences and have peer-reviewed publications based on their research.
This rotation is directed by Richard Applegate II, MD.
